Weight Management Coaching

Professional, evidence-based support for long-term change

At Pinnacle Performance, we’re proud to offer South Canterbury’s leading Weight Management Coaching service — a practical, behaviour-focused approach designed to help people create sustainable, lifelong change. With obesity and overweight affecting more than two-thirds of New Zealand adults, personalised support has never been more important.

Weight Management Coaching is one of the only interventions that provides direct, one-on-one, scalable, flexible and behaviourally driven support for people wanting to improve their health. It bridges the gap between traditional fitness, nutrition advice, and everyday life by focusing on the habits, triggers and environments that shape long-term results.

This service is delivered by South Canterbury’s only qualified, registered coach who is trained to support clients through every phase of their journey, both in person and online.

What Does a Weight Management Coach Do?

Our coach work with clients to understand:

  • current behaviours
  • lifestyle patterns and triggers
  • the environments influencing these behaviours
  • how these factors drive weight and health over time

This begins with an in-depth assessment period using validated tools and a client handbook to help guide education, reflection and review.

From there, clients move into an intervention phase, where the coach and client work together to select and adjust specific behaviours that can be sustainably changed. This period usually runs for 8–12 weeks, with weekly or fortnightly coaching sessions and ongoing support to help refine and stabilise the new habits.

Once a client has established consistent behavioural change, they shift into a maintenance phase, receiving regular coaching and accountability — often remotely — for 3 to 12 months depending on individual needs.
