Hugh Slobbe embarked on his fitness journey by earning a Bachelor of Physical Education from the prestigious University of Otago. Fuelling his passion for continuous growth, he further enhanced his expertise with a Graduate Certificate in Physical Conditioning. Committed to staying at the forefront of the industry, Hugh pursued additional training in Functional Fitness.

With a wealth of experience training elite athletes, Hugh has made a significant impact in the realm of rugby. His impressive resume includes notable positions such as:

  • Crusaders: Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach
  • Canterbury Rugby: GPS Coordinator
  • Samoa & Northland Rugby: Head Trainer

While Hugh shifted his focus from high-performance sports to be closer to his family in Timaru, he continued his mission of transforming lives through physical performance coaching. In South Canterbury, he has achieved remarkable success, helping individuals reach their fitness needs. Rugby remains close to his heart, and on Saturdays, you’ll spot him refereeing for South Canterbury Rugby.

Having gone through my own weight loss and fitness journey, as well as over a decade working in emergency medicine, I truly understand the challenges and triumphs that come with transforming one’s lifestyle. I approach coaching with empathy and unwavering support, guiding clients towards their goals while emphasising progress over perfection. My mission is to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals can develop sustainable habits and improve their overall health.
